From Ace to Two, How Ace Rules Berated Players

Let’s say you’re big enough to hold an ace and you’re playing in a home game. Normally you would hold at least one of the other suit a player can use for his suit during Texas holdem. But you’re ace has a distinct advantage. You may call or even raise with an ace.

If you’re holding an ace and a spade you have a flush. If you raise in three units (4 for an ace) you will be getting a price of approximately 8 to 1 to call. So if someone raises by 10 bets you have a choice: fold or call. In point of fact, calling or raising even an ace may be misread and the actual statistical probability of winning the hand is 9.6%.

Ace Rules – Badassery

When you’re holding an ace and there’s a spade on the board, you might want to bet or raise big and try to suck everyone else into doing exactly what you did. This is called playing to the nuts and can definitely make your opponents talk.

Some people go around calling all the time with jacks, tens, and nines. They call with stuff when they have pattern recognition. An example would be after the flop they raise with a hand like tens pre-flop. Then they can take it down from there since no one believes them.

But if you’re really in control of the hand then you want to be the one to bet. If you can bet your opponents out of the hand then they’re out of the hand. You want to control the betting and by now you should be able to read what hands your opponents like to play.

If you bet out you’ll gain a reputation as someone who can get in with any hand. Suddenly you’ll get more confident people betting with you. This will convince your opponents you’re either playing a really good hand or they don’t even have good cards. Either way, you can then bet a larger amount to extract as many chips from your opponents as possible.

But beware, if your opponent doesn’t have an ace and they call your Poker88, they may actually have a better hand. They may be trying to get you to fold your hand. They may have a high ace or maybe they’re just making a move because they have a hand that looks better than yours.

But if you don’t want to be an easy mark, you’ll probably want to bet just a little bit. If you let more people in to improve your odds you’re giving yourself more of a chance to be beat and also you’re giving your opponents a free card. Betting just a little bit is the poker motto.

Overtly display your wealth or leisure interests

So you want to advertise to the world that you’ve got a good hand? How about a massive pot with a lot of people in it? Now there’s nothing wrong with that, but try to keep in mind that you’re doing this in your own home or your own online poker site and you’re doing it to one particular person. Try to make the pot bigger and better. If done properly this may be effective.

But if you have a really obvious hand, like three of a kind or four of a kind and you advertise this excessively, you’re justbeating a horse to jump over a fence. At some point people are going to realize you’re using these tactics and either leave the game or play back at you. Try to do it responsibly.
